1980 saw the introduction of the Ferrari Mondial. This was different to previous Ferraris of the time in that its name wasn’t just a string of letters and numbers, it was an actual name – Mondial. Meaning ‘global’ in French, the Mondial was aimed at a much larger market than that of the super-rich who were the only ones who could currently afford a Ferrari.
This was actually the second time Ferrari had used the name Mondial as, back in the 1950s, there were small, four-cylinder race cars that were given the same name.
This version of the Mondial was different though – this was a larger, mid-engine, sports car that you could comfortably drive on a daily basis.
Not only is our 1985 Ferrari Mondial the Quattrovalvole (four-valve) cabriolet version, which is the rarest model of Mondial, but it is also one of only 24 RHD versions imported into the UK during production.
Extensive history and paperwork are available highlighting regular servicing, maintenance, and overall care and attention that a car of this calibre deserves. The cam belt has been inspected regularly and the current belt has covered less than 700 miles since its last change.
It has been featured in and on the cover of Classic Cars Magazine and comes with finishing medals of the GE Classic Motor Events London to Brighton in both 2015 and 2017.
