Unveiled at the September 1985 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Mercedes-Benz 300SL formed part of the renowned R107 series. With its powerful six-cylinder engine, it shares the same robust monocoque bodyshell, independent coil-sprung suspension, and power-assisted steering as its V8 counterparts.
Equipped with a four-speed automatic gearbox, the 300SL had upgraded anti-corrosion treatment and ABS brakes. Production spanned from 1985 to 1989, with a total of approximately 13,443 units dispatched worldwide.
Our Mercedes-Benz 300SL was originally delivered by Mercedes-Benz main dealer Callanders of Glasgow to Cheshire Products Ltd on March 18, 1988. Initially serving as a directorโs vehicle for six years before moving on to its second owner on March 25, 1994. After looking after the car for 24 years, it was eventually passed on to the third owner on May 25, 2018. Following a brief ownership, our 300SL found its way to its most recent owner on April 18, 2020.
Finished in Nautical Blue Metallic with a contrasting Cream leather interior, our 1988 Mercedes-Benz 300SL retains its original factory hardtop and comes with a history file of service stamps, past MOTs, and invoices; all of which support the 85,611 miles displayed on the odometer.
ยฃ15,000 was recently paid to a specialist team to recommission our Mercedes and it is now ready to be won.
